ME, MYSELF & TIME

Performance 2024

Bella Angora has already dealt with the time factor at different levels in several projects. These include aspects such as transience, fast pace, pace of life and the extent to which these affect the individual, but also society. She looks at it from a feminist perspective, because in her opinion, many things that make time short and fast are the results of a patriarchal-hierarchical system.

Life is a process of time, it begins and ends at some point. Over the course of their personal lives, people go through different processes. However, one process is consistent: the aging process. In this project, Bella Angora addresses a very specific stage of aging, the menopause. This female transition is a very special phase within a personal transformation. The middle of life is passed, and one’s own finiteness becomes more apparent day by day. The body loses its fertility and moves into a new phase of life. This forces a concentrated examination of aging in order to establish a different way of dealing with oneself.

How does a woman want to experience the remaining time and what does she need? Where does new fertility appear? How does an aging woman position herself within society? What developments do women still want to achieve? In ME, MYSELF & TIME, Bella Angora looks for answers to questions like these.
