"texas rangers trying
to solve the cow-bell-massacre-problem"
with
Christian Falsnaes & So:ren 2004
This
piece is a
combination of installation, music
and performance: A kind of ”musical”
that
transgresses the limits for each of the
individual art-forms, by mixing them in an
innovative
and unconventionel way.
One of the
primary intentions with the project, is
to transfer elements of the musical
(the
mixture of theatre and music) into a modern
art-context, where the predictable
traditionel
musical-aesthethic is converted into
contemporary installation and performance-art.
The main character
is a cow (object loaded with
alpine identity), that decides to break
with the
expectations of her surroundings and to
define her own happiness. Through this
process,
she mutates into a kind of super hero alter
ego that is confronted with the
difficulties
of human living. A story that includes
Superman, Wilhelm Tell and a number of
absurd
occurences, is proceeding.
Everything
is possible in a universe where cows and
superheroes are performance-artists.
The
intention is to question the reality defined by
society and science, furthermore to
deal with
”pre-programmed” conventions of happiness
created through mass-media and
social
patterns.
Subjects
like personal and social expectations,
capitalism and racism, are treated with
humor and
unpretenciousness.
